“I asked the same thing. The oldest man here told me, just as I’m telling you now, that through fear or conformity, people just accepted them. There were some that said things would be better with them, that it was wrong not to accept them. So people did.”

Description

“I asked the same thing. The oldest man here told me, just as I’m telling you now, that through fear or conformity, people just accepted them. There were some that said things would be better with them, that it was wrong not to accept them. So people did.”

Alec is a young boy living an ordinary life with his father: scavenging for food and water, listening to stories of what life was in the old days, and hiding from the monsters, against whom they have no defense. But when the monsters break into Alec’s home, he’s forced into a perilous journey that leads him to not only uncover the mysteries behind the world he lives in, but tests his ability to survive in a land hostile to the human race.

There’s Only Us is an examination of social decay, masculinity, and family values. The first novella from screenwriter Craig Langley, There’s Only Us examines 21st-century issues through the lens of horror, post-apocalypse fiction, and other genres.

“In his debut novella, Craig Langley takes a familiar tale, i.e. the ‘zombie apocalypse,’ and makes it new by letting the reader see all of the terror and mayhem through the eyes of a child.” — Andy Nowicki, author of The Columbine Pilgrim and Muze
