Alec is a young boy living an ordinary life with his father: scavenging for food and water, listening to stories of what life was in the old days, and hiding from the monsters, against whom they have no defense. But when the monsters break into Alec’s home, he’s forced into a perilous journey that leads him to not only uncover the mysteries behind the world he lives in, but tests his ability to survive in a land hostile to the human race.
